The Buxeres house

Box plant belongs to the Buxaceae family, an evergreen with white flowers, very much appreciated for its wood. And even though in Catalan this shrub receives the name of boix, this area of Barcelona, unlike what one might think, is not called Can Boixeres for being a terrain of boxwoods, but rather because of the surname of Lluís Buxeres Abat, the old proprietor of Casa Alta, well known in the area. Buxeres bought the farm from Joaquina Casanovas, who, in turn, had purchased it from the Alemany family in 1875.

CAN BOIXERES PARK avinguda de Josep Tarradellas, s/nº L’Hospitalet de Llobregat Opened in 1970, it is one of the lungs of L’Hospitalet. Within its boundaries you’ll find an eighteenth century farm known as Can Masover, formerly named Casa Alta, and property of Lluís Buxeres. In the garden there is a small temple toppled by a ceramic glass dome. Nearby you can see the old farm. In this land during the Spanish Civil War they built barracks to use as shelters.
