Guinardó – Hospital de Sant Pau

The old Guinardó House

The neighbourhood of Guinardó belonged to the old municipality of Sant Martí de Provençals, which bordered with Horta and Gràcia. This area received the name of an old of fifteen century house, built when these lands were for grazing and farming and which belonged to Salvador Riera. The house is already mentioned in several documents of that period.

As far as the second term is concerned, the station, just as another one on the blue line, takes its name from Sant Pau, a hospital that is in the area. Saint Peter lived in the area in the first century AD and after having persecuted those who professed the Christian faith, ended up converting himself.
