The old New Market
At the end of the XIX century, the market of the district of Sants was outdoor in calle Sant Crist. Then it moved to some lands that were given up from the family of Salat, that now correspond to Plaça d’Osca, very near to the current market. Finally it moved again to the place of an old garden called “Hort Nou”; that’s way the market took the name of Mercat Nou, the same name that the metro station would take later.
