A summertime place to relax

Located in the plain at the foot of Cordillera Litoral, this Badalona’s district has a name linked to a clearly catholic past that still exists in the State. It comes from the vocation of the Verge Maria de la Salut and it gives the name to many sanctuaries and hermitages in all Catalonia. However, according to other sources the name comes from the original project of this area’s backers. This area was destined to be a residential area where to spend the summer and “to make health”, due to the priviliged weather of this territory.

La Salut is one of the Badalona’s districts that more preserves the cultural traditions of other places, such as the Fiesta de las Migas, celebrated since many years around the middle May in the Escorxador, with the typical catalan dance of sardinadas, chocolate and of course, tasting of the bread’s crumb in giant frying pans.

TEATRE BLAS INFANT Carrer d Andrés Segovia, 45 Badalona Phone 933 84 40 22 A wide hall with more than 400 rooms, where theatres show and concerts are given. LA NAU 3. CENTRE CULTURAL L’ESCORXADOR Carrer de Don Pelayo, 22 Badalona A building of 1924 designed by the architect Josep Fradera i Botey and that kept active until 1985. Preserved as Cultural Good of Local interest, it has many warehouses that were used according to the kind of livestock: pig, ox or lamb. It has been recently renovated as cultural and social space and it is the venue for fairs and different activities. It has an area for the elder people, another for the leisure, a school for adults and a park for the citizens’ use.
