The eternal temple
With the Sagrada Familia, Antoni Gaudí was not content with simply building a grand temple, but rather his project consisted in singing the praises of the virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity captured in one single monument, with which he pretended for the city to expiate all of its sins: The Expiatory Temple of the Sacred Family. Apart from the architect’s intentions, there was a man of profound and intense religious convictions.

Curiosity… at the end of the works, Sagrada Familia will have twelve towers devoted to the twelve Apostles, plus four for the evangelists, one devoted to Virgin Mary and a big central tower of 170mt devoted to Jesus Christ. This one will have a cross of 15mt, with mosaics that let it shine during the day and it will also glow during the night, so it would be possible to see it from every part of the city. It looks like that the works will end in 2022. You can find more information in: www.sagradafamilia.org. Once a year, in june, there is a day of open house visits.
