In the old days, this neighborhood of the Sant Martí district was a farming area that stretched from Riera de Horta to the Besòs River. During the sixties, farming slowly disappeared and was replaced by a neighborhood of tall housing projects, developed by the Labor-Union Housing Project. Franco inaugurated it in 1966, coinciding with the commemorative ceremonies of first 25 years of peace.
PLAÇA DE LA PALMERA carrer d’Andrade, 241 Before becoming a square, this used to be a factory, of which only the chimney is left today. Several pine trees and rooted in the square, but it is the palm tree that gives name to the plaça.
