At the end of the XIX century, the market of the district of Sants was outdoor in calle Sant Crist. Then it moved to some lands that were given up from the family of Salat, that now correspond to Plaça d’Osca, very near to the current market. Finally it moved again to the place of an old garden called «Hort Nou»; that’s way the market took the name of Mercat Nou, the same name that the metro station would take later.

Every year the sunday after the S.Medir day (3rd of March) a curious show in the street (around the market of Sants, in the district La Bordeta) with carriages with horses from which thousand of sweets are thrown… something delicious for children!
