Existen diferentes teorías que explican la formación del topónimo Vilapicina. Una de ellas sostiene que viene de las «pixines» o «picines», unos hornos donde se elaboraba una sustancia resinosa llamada «pez», que proviene del latín picis. Según otra teoría, el nombre se debe al hallazgo de unos restos de mosaico que corresponderían a la piscina de un antiguo balneario romano.

There are various theories that explain the formation of the toponym of Vilapicina. One of them claims that it derives from pixines or pools, which were ovens where a resinous substance by the name of “pez” was produced and which came from the Latin picis. According to another theory, it is due to the discovery of the remains of a mosaic which belonged to a pool of an ancient Roman bathhouse.

Hi ha diverses teories que expliquen el topònim que dóna nom a aquesta parada. Per una banda, es diu que en aquesta zona hi havia uns forns on s’elaborava una pega coneguda amb el nom de peix, en llatí piscis, i que eren anomenats pixines o picines. I per l’altra, es diu que en aquestes terres hi havia un balneari romà, del qual es van trobar restes de mosaics que correspondrien a una piscina.
